AutoSock (winter) traction aids are generally less expensive than traditional snow chains.  They work effectively in wet snow conditions and are therefore particularly relevant for the UK where snowfall is sporadic and few people have winter tyres.

Price ranges from £59.95 - £69.95 per pair depending on the size of your wheels (normally only one pair are needed for the driving wheels).
